The wheel

Samsara is the tradition's name for the loop: birth, death, and the wandering between — driven by karma, the momentum of action. The Gita states its premise without flinching: 'For one who is born, death is certain; for one who dies, birth is certain' (2.27). This is not morbid. It is the diagnosis that makes every Indian philosophy possible, because each one — Vedanta, Yoga, Buddhist, Jain — is a proposed treatment.

Both ends of the thread

Our design holds janm and mrityu — birth and death — as two written words on one garment, because the tradition holds them the same way: not opposites, but a single process seen from two sides. What is constant is neither; the Gita's word for it is the dehin, the one who wears bodies the way bodies wear cloth. Read that verse (2.22) and you will never look at a wardrobe the same way.

Moksha, the exit

The wheel has an exit — moksha, liberation — and it is the word this brand is named for. Moksha Vastra: the garment of liberation. We put samsara on cotton not to celebrate the loop but to keep the question in view: everything cycles — what, in you, doesn't?
